Sites of the Quarter - Winter 2003

Every so often we'll feature two transit related sites as well as an occasional non-transit site that we think would be interesting to our visitors to check out.  One site will be the official site of an agency and the others will be a fan and/or special sites.  This quarter's entries are:

  • Official Transit Site of the Quarter - Santa Barbara Transit at www.sbmtd.gov

Our Fall Transit Site of the Quarter is the one for Santa Barbara Transit in California.  The following is excerpted from their very colourful website:  The Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District, with its focus on passenger service, provides a reliable, safe, comfortable means of mobility to those who lack other transportation, including students, the elderly and individuals with disabilities who have access to bus stops.  SBMTD also provides an attractive transportation option for commuters and shoppers who may otherwise drive cars.   You can learn more by going to their website at www.sbmtd.gov.
  • Fan Site of the Quarter - New York City Subway Resources at www.nycsubway.org

The New Your City Subway Resources page is a excellent site to check out many photos and information about the NYC Subways and the trains that run through them.  Also featured on the site is photos from other train system throughout North America and the world.  You can also check out the message boards for bus and train talk as well as some links.  For more information, see their neat site at www.nycsubway.org.

  • Special Site of the Quarter - NexusWebs at www.nexuswebs.net

This time we're doing something a little different.  As we all know the free hosting business has been in upheaval due to the fallout of web advertising, which help supported those sites.  Now there's one that has no banner ads or pop-ups.  We all hate those, don't we?  NexusWebs uses a simple footer on the bottom of each page.  So if you need some web space and can't afford a domain or a host at this time or want to play webmaster before going to a paid solution, which NexusWebs sister host HostNexus has, you can give them a try.  Their site is at www.nexuswebs.net.
