Sites of the Quarter - Fall 2003
Every so often we'll feature two transit related sites as well as an occasional non-transit site that we think would be interesting to our visitors to check out. One site will be the official site of an agency and the others will be a fan and/or special sites. This quarter's entries are:
- Official Transit Site of the Quarter - Long Beach Transit at www.lbtransit.com
Our Fall Transit Site of the Quarter is the one for Long Beach Transit in California. The following is excerpted from their website: The story of Long Beach Transit has been filled with challenges, accomplishments, and lots of excitement. Long Beach Transit has earned an excellent reputation since its formation in 1963: For everything from its good on-time record, safety for their passengers and the public, and cleanliness and reliability of the bus fleet, to the popularity of their bus operators. You can learn more by going to their website at www.lbtransit.com.
- Fan Site of the Quarter - The Bus Station at www.busstation.net
The Bus Station website is now one of the biggest resources for bus-related links on the Web. Like the world wide web, the site is always growing rapidly and you can find links to the whole spectrum of bus-related topics. Organized geographically, you'll find links to bus operators, builders, dealers, refurbishers and model shops as well as fan sites, the photographers, the fleet lists, the historians, the preservationists and others. On the Bus Station, you'll find TV shows about buses, trolley buses, streetcars and trams, school buses, people who live in buses and even people who race buses...Yes, your favourite driver isn't he only one racing down the highway with a full coach! See their neat site at www.busstation.net.
- Special Site of the Quarter - Reel Jewels at www.reeljewels.com
If you're into the musical stars of the 30's, 40's and the 50's, check out Ginny's Reeljewels.com. As mentioned on her site, the film stars that are represented on Reel Jewels are people she has a great deal of respect for as far as their talent as seen on of their films, recordings and radio appearances. Quoting Ginny: "It seems I have become obsessed about reminding people that these gifted artists were once part of our popular culture both in the United States as well as the rest of the world. Not always is entertainment about sensationalism as it seems to be more or less today -- true talent is found in artistic ability, sincerity, beauty, romance and a touch of enchantment that brings our chaotic world a little piece of mind if only for the time it takes to watch a few reels of film. " Check out www.reeljewels.com and take a trip back in time! ^_^
