Paratransit:  Tri-Delta Dial-A-Ride

Dial-A-Ride is a service for persons with disabilities who are ADA-certified to use paratransit.  This section features information about Tri-Delta transit's paratransit service.  For more information you can visit the Tri Delta Transit's Dial-A-Ride site at http://www.trideltatransit.com.

Service Areas

Tri-Delta Dial-a-Ride is a door-to-door transportation service for eligible residents of Eastern Contra Costa County.  All individuals who are entitled to Dial-a-Ride service should contact Tri-Delta Transit and fill our an application and submit it to the agency for review and certification.  All applicants that are eligible for Dial-a-Ride service are placed in one of two categories.  The first category is mandated by the Federal Government under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  This category is called "ADA Eligibility." The second category is known as the "Non-ADA Eligibility" or Senior category and is open to seniors 65 years and older who have completed our travel training program.  The qualifying criteria for each of the two categories follows...

Riding Tri-Delta Paratransit

ADA Eligibility
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal law that guarantees certified individuals with disabilities, full and equal access to the same services and accommodations that are available to people without disabilities.  The criteria for ADA Eligible on Dial-a-Ride are as follows:

  1. Passenger is unable to get to and/or from the nearest Tri Delta Transit bus stop, or

  2. Passenger is unable to independently ride, board, or disembark from a Tri Delta Transit vehicle, or

  3. Passenger cannot use the Tri Delta Transit system, because the bus routes serving the passenger's origin or destination are not accessible.

Reservations
For reservations on Tri-Delta Dial-a-Ride, call (925) 754-3060.  Ride reservations are taken between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm seven days a week.  Rides can be reserved up to 14 days in advance, and as late as the day before the ride is needed.  It's best to make your reservation as soon as possible to ensure you get the time and trip you want.

At the time the reservation is made, the customer service representative will give the customer an approximate pick up time.  Customers must be ready within five minutes of notice of the van's arrival.  If a customer's medical appointment takes longer than expected, Tri-Delta ask that they notify the dispatcher to arrange a new pick-up time.  Tri-Delta cannot guarantee the desired pick-up time in this situation.

Non-ADA Eligibility
This category is open to seniors 65 years and older. The criteria for NON-ADA eligibility on Dial-a-Ride are as follows:

  1. Seniors must be at least 65 years of age, and

  2. Seniors must first have completed the Tri-Delta Transit's travel training program for the local bus service.
